Bye! See you!

...as Mae would say, in her own voice.
I'm putting Mae's blog on hold until such time that she can contribute to it herself.
Starting in 2013, you can check in on her at http://honey-days.blogspot.com/, under the label "Mae".

ABCs!

Mae can now count to 5, an increase from 4 from a few days ago.

Yesterday she surprised me by saying the alphabet up to H! (minus C, and with funny pronunciation, but I could still tell what it was)

Today she can go as high as P!  though it goes sort of H - I - J - K - muh - muh - muh - P.  "Muh" is what she says when she knows there is some words she's missing but she's not sure what they are.

Example, her version of "Old MacDonald had a Farm":

"E-I-E-I-O.  muh-muh muh.  E-I-E-I-O.  muh-muh muh.  E-I-E-I-O."

Mike picked up on this and pointed it out to me, and I just about died laughing!

More photos

Here are some other recent photos, that I took myself

Photos from day care

Mae recently started attending day care at our neighbor's house, while I work.  Something I really like about my neighbor is that she texts me photos throughout the day so I can see that Mae is eating and smiling and not sobbing in the corner.

Here are some of the photos she has sent me.

She tells me Mae was singing "E-I-E-I-O!"

This was taken about 30 seconds after I dropped Mae off and left her crying

13 months old

13 months old now...

At the end of July, Grandma Pat came to visit.  Mae also had her 12-month checkup at that time, where she weighed in at 22 lbs, 11.5 oz. Height is 30.25 inches.

She has switched from baby formula to soy milk.  She kind of already had anyway, since she kept stealing Libby's milk.

Mae has shown more interest in books lately.  She likes to read I Am A Bunny and Busy Whizzy Bugs.  Also Where's Spot and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

She chose a stuffed puppy from Libby's stuffed animal collection, that seems to be her favorite, since the puppy gets lots of hugs and kisses.

She continued to walk only 5-10 steps at a time until about a week ago, when she finally committed to walking and now walks the majority of the time.  She can also climb the stairs very well and loves to do it.  This means when we go to the indoor playground she can actually play on the toys now, climbing the little slide all by herself.

She can point, and do it well.  She also waves hello, claps her hands when she's happy, and signs "more" or something approximating the sign for more.  She makes the sign when she wants something, not necessarily more of something.  But we're working on it.

She eats anything and everything.  Yesterday we had a neighborhood barbecue, and when I said Mae could eat a whole chicken breast, everyone thought I was kidding until they actually saw her do it.  She shovels food in as fast as you can give it to her and swallows it without chewing, immediately demanding more.

She sleeps well, but the last couple weeks has been on a rather unpredictable sleep schedule.  I think all the eating, walking, and growing is throwing off her usual schedule.

Stacking rings

Mae has been good at un-stacking rings.  This past weekend she started stacking them!

11 months old

Mae is now 11 months old (as of a few days ago).

She can say:
Hi - extremely clearly, it melts the heart of everyone who hears it
No - more to express dismay than actually to refuse something
Down - I think she knows what it means, but she actually started saying it to sing along with the rest of the family when we sing "Ring Around the Rosie".  Mike is the one who noticed her singing along...I don't know if I ever would have!

She is very close to walking.  She can stand very steadily without support, if she wants to.  The trick is getting her to realize that she can.  The longest we've seen her stand is for 6 seconds.

Right now she is with her daddy on a plane to Texas to visit Grandma.  I expect that she may even be walking by the time she gets back home.  She's such a good girl and we're so proud of her!

She goes to bed at 11:30pm and wakes up between 8am and 10am.  She has a nap at 2pm.  At night she wakes up often, but is good about going back to sleep if she has a bottle.  We are working on helping her go to sleep on her own.  Sometimes she can do it at naptime, but sometimes not...if she sees me or her daddy she often thinks it's party time.

Mae in her bath

Here is another video.
At 0:22 she looks at the camera and says "hi".

Mae eating an apple

Mae can eat an apple, whole.  The apple looks so big in her tiny hands.

Ooohhhh

I know I missed Mae's 9-month old blog. At her checkup she was about 20lbs and 29 inches tall.  The doctor says she is in the 90th percentile for height.  She's our big tall Mae-Mae.

Just last week she finally started crawling.  I think I mentioned that on the main blog as well.  She can go really fast now.

A couple days ago she learned a new syllable: "oh".  She says it over and over - "Ooooohhhh.  ooohhhhh." or sometimes it evolves into "ooohhhhwowwowwowow"  Anyway, she puckers up her lips and makes the cutest face when she says it, which made me mimic her, and that's when I found out she will say "oh" back to me if I say it first.

8 months old

Still scooting, not crawling yet.  But better keep those floors clean, because she can drag herself around really fast!  We're tempted to put a mop head on her belly.

Mae loves to jump in her jumper toy (formerly Libby's jumper toy).  She can really get going in that thing and thinks it is so fun!  She also splashes like crazy in her bath.

Lots of naps still.

She is a lot more vocal now, and will have long "conversations" with you if you let her.  She can be quite "impossible" during a diaper change (will not sit still for 1 second),  but is still the happiest baby ever!

7 months old

Better late than never...Mae turned 7 months old a couple days ago.  She is now teaching herself to crawl.  She scoots or drags herself across the floor.  She can go pretty fast if she sees something she wants really bad, like my cell phone.  She pushes up onto her knees and rocks, but hasn't yet figured out how to pick up her knees to move forward.

2 weeks ago she added banana to her diet.  It was just as big of a hit as the rice cereal.

She yells a lot.  Not cries...yells.  She just likes to use her voice, and make sure we can hear her nice and loud.  She's starting to use her voice to make sounds.  Like Da and Ga.

I have some fabulous photos at http://www.honeydays365.blogspot.com/ which I encourage you to take a look at.  Others below...

6 months old

Mae-Mae is 6 months old, though I can hardly believe it.
She now has 2 teeth on the bottom, can hold her own bottle when so inclined, loves to grab her feet, and can sit in a highchair.  Can't yet sit up on the floor by herself though.

Many photos, since I got a new camera for Christmas.  Mae enjoyed her first Christmas very much.  You can read about it over on mom's blog.

First a re-run, also posted on My 365, but I love love love this photo.

One that shows her new teeth, though not quite in focus since she was wiggling so much:
